Moots is a social platform designed for builders and makers. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

To provide and improve our Service globally, we collect specific types of information from our users:

A. Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

  • Authentication Data: We collect your email address, OAuth provider data (e.g., Google or GitHub login details), and manage session tokens. Passwords and identity management are handled entirely and securely by our authentication partner, Clerk.
  • Profile Data: When you set up an account, we collect your chosen display name, unique @handle, profile picture (avatar), short biography, and any external links you choose to provide (such as a GitHub profile).

B. User-Generated Content (UGC)

Because Moots is a "Proof of Work" network, we collect and store the content you voluntarily submit:

  • Posts & Comments: Text content, links, and timestamps you create.
  • Projects: Custom project names, descriptions, emojis, and the chronological logs associated with them.
  • Network Data: Records of connection requests, mutual connections ("Moots"), and network graphs.
  • Interactions: Records of your engagements, such as which posts you have "liked."

C. Automatically Collected Data

When you access the Service, our infrastructure automatically collects telemetry data, including:

  • IP addresses
  • Browser types and versions
  • Device information
  • Usage telemetry and diagnostic data

2. How We Use Your Information

MUNDUSMK (PTY) LTD uses the collected data for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and secure the Service.
  • To manage your account and authenticate your identity.
  • To display your Profile, Projects, and User-Generated Content to the Moots network.
  • To map and facilitate your mutual connections with other builders.
  • To monitor usage patterns to improve technical performance and UI/UX.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

To operate Moots globally and securely, we utilize industry-standard third-party subprocessors. We share your data with these providers strictly to facilitate our operations:

  • Clerk: Handles all user authentication, identity management, and session security.
  • Convex: Acts as our backend infrastructure, handling API requests, real-time database syncing, and data storage.
  • Vercel: Hosts our frontend web application and routes global traffic.

These providers are bound by their own strict privacy frameworks and are compliant with global data protection regulations.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal information and UGC only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

Your Right to Deletion:

You can request the complete deletion of your account and associated data at any time. To do so, you may either:

  • Navigate to the settings page within the Moots application and select "Delete Account."
  • Email our support team directly at mundusmk.support@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request."

Note: We may retain certain automated data or transaction records as required by law or for legitimate security and anti-abuse purposes.

5. Age Restrictions (COPPA & GDPR Compliance)

Moots is designed for independent developers, creators, and professionals. The Service is strictly not intended for use by children.

  • Users must be at least 13 years of age to create an account.
  • If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), you must be at least 16 years of age to consent to data processing under the GDPR.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under these age thresholds without verification of parental consent, we will take steps to remove that information from our servers immediately.

6. International Data Transfers

As Moots operates on a global scale, your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to—and maintained on—computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction (including transfers originating from or processing through South Africa) where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform evolves. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top.
